Purpose:

 

For the following purposes: to organize the two-week international summer school from July 23, 2007 to August 5, 2007 for art curators in Yerevan, Armenia. Twenty participants – prospective and practicing curators will be invited from former socialist countries (including Armenia) and Turkey to take part in lectures, seminars and workshops lead by prominent critics, theorists and curators in the field of contemporary art. The summer school will invite three instructors for theory and method courses as well as the workshop. Besides fixed seminars and workshop, there will be one-time presentations by local and international artists, curators and cultural workers. These short seminars will be organized in close coordination and correspondence with partner-institutions in Turkey, Kazakhstan and Slovenia. The classroom teaching will run parallel with studio, gallery and museum visits as well as with a curatorial practicum to organize an exposition or an art-event as a final presentation of the workshop results. The outcome will be a publication of the methodological manual with articles and suggestions from specialists with expertise in teaching and organizing these type of programs
